1. About these Terms
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Connor AI LLC (“Meal Buddy”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Meal Buddy Pro app and the mealbuddy.app website (together, “Meal Buddy”). By using Meal Buddy, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Meal Buddy.
2. Who can use Meal Buddy
You must be at least 13 years old to use Meal Buddy. If you’re under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you and should be involved in how you use it. Meal Buddy isn’t for children under 13.
3. Your account
You can start as a guest or save your account with Apple, Google or email. Keep your sign-in details secure. You’re responsible for what happens in your account. Guest accounts are tied to your device: if you delete the app or log out of a guest account without saving it, we can’t recover it.
4. Health and nutrition information
Meal Buddy gives general information to help you plan and track meals. It isn’t medical, nutritional or dietary advice, and it doesn’t replace a doctor or registered dietitian. Calorie and macro targets, goal dates and weight projections are estimates based on standard formulas and what you enter.
Talk to a doctor before starting a diet or weight-loss plan, especially if you:
- are pregnant or breastfeeding, or under 18,
- have diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease or another medical condition,
- have a history of disordered eating, or
- take a GLP-1 or any other medication.
GLP-1 mode changes the size and makeup of your meals. It doesn’t give advice about your medication or dose. Stop and get medical help if you feel unwell. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
5. Recipes, nutrition and AI
- AI-generated content. Many recipes, meal ideas and food photos in Meal Buddy are created with artificial intelligence. They can be inaccurate or incomplete, and recipe photos are illustrations that may not match exactly what you cook.
- Nutrition numbers are estimates. Recipe calories and macros are calculated from USDA FoodData Central data for each ingredient, and estimated when an ingredient has no USDA match. Packaged-food details come from USDA and Open Food Facts. Real foods, brands and portions vary.
- Allergies. Meal Buddy tries to leave out the allergens and foods you tell it to avoid, but it can’t guarantee every recipe is safe for you. Always read ingredient lists and food labels.
- Food safety. Follow safe food handling, storage and cooking temperatures, even if a recipe doesn’t mention them.
You’re responsible for deciding whether a recipe or plan is right for you.
6. Meal Buddy Pro subscriptions
- Billing. Meal Buddy Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store and billed to your Apple account. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may include tax.
- Free trials. If you start a free trial, your subscription starts automatically when the trial ends, and you’ll be charged unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Apple decides who is eligible for a trial.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews for the same length at the current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges your account within 24 hours before each renewal.
- Cancelling. Cancel anytime in your iPhone’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or in Meal Buddy under Settings → Subscription → Manage. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your account doesn’t cancel your subscription.
- Refunds. Apple handles all payments and refunds. You can request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t issue refunds for App Store purchases.
- Price changes. If we change the price of a subscription, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your agreement.
- Fair use. AI features have usage limits to keep them working for everyone. We may adjust these limits.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you add to Meal Buddy, such as custom meals, photos and notes. You give us permission to store, process and display it so we can provide Meal Buddy to you. This includes sending parts of it to the service providers described in our Privacy Policy. Only add photos and content you have the right to use. We may remove content that breaks these Terms.
8. Using Meal Buddy fairly
Please don’t:
- break the law, or use Meal Buddy to harm anyone,
- copy, scrape or resell Meal Buddy’s recipes, images or data, or use bots to access it,
- get around subscriptions, usage limits or security features,
- reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it,
- interfere with or overload our systems, or
- use AI features to create harmful, illegal or misleading content.
9. Our content and your license
Meal Buddy, including its software, design, recipes and images, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, as allowed by Apple’s Usage Rules. We may end this license if you break these Terms.
10. Other companies’ services
Meal Buddy works with services from other companies, including Apple, Google and Amazon. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them, and we aren’t responsible for them.
Amazon links. As an Amazon Associate, Meal Buddy earns from qualifying purchases. Grocery links to Amazon include our Associates tag. This doesn’t change the price you pay.
11. Feedback
We love hearing ideas. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we can use them without owing you anything.
12. Changes to Meal Buddy and these Terms
We keep improving Meal Buddy, so features may change, be added or be removed. We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Meal Buddy after a change takes effect, you agree to the updated Terms. If you don’t agree, stop using Meal Buddy and cancel your subscription.
13. Ending your use
You can stop using Meal Buddy and delete your account anytime in Settings → Delete account. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, or if the law requires it. Parts of these Terms that by their nature should continue, such as ownership, disclaimers, limits on liability and how disputes are resolved, keep applying after your use ends.
14. Disclaimers
Meal Buddy is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that Meal Buddy will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will help you reach a particular weight or health result.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for all claims about Meal Buddy is limited to the greater of what you paid for Meal Buddy Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
16. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, from claims that arise because you broke these Terms or misused Meal Buddy.
17. Disputes and arbitration
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Talk to us first. Before filing a claim, email us at connorwsk@connoraillc.com with a description of the problem and what you want. We’ll try to resolve it informally within 60 days.
Arbitration. If we can’t resolve it, you and we agree to resolve any dispute about Meal Buddy or these Terms through final, binding arbitration on an individual basis. The American Arbitration Association (AAA) will run the arbitration under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will take place in the county where you live or by video, unless we both agree otherwise. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court, or ask a court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property.
No class actions. You and we may bring claims only on an individual basis, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative action. You and we both give up the right to a jury trial.
Opting out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Email connorwsk@connoraillc.com with your name, the email address on your account if you have one, and the words “arbitration opt-out”.
Courts. If arbitration doesn’t apply, or the class action waiver is found unenforceable, the dispute will be decided only by the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and this arbitration section won’t apply to that dispute.
If you live in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, this arbitration section doesn’t apply to you. You keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may bring claims in your local courts.
18. Apple App Store terms
If you got Meal Buddy from Apple’s App Store, you and we also agree that:
- These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Meal Buddy and its content.
- Your license to use the app is limited to Apple-branded products you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Meal Buddy.
- If Meal Buddy fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, if any. To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Meal Buddy.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about Meal Buddy, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection or privacy laws.
- If anyone claims that Meal Buddy infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and resolving the claim.
- You confirm that you aren’t located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or listed as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you aren’t on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use Meal Buddy, such as your mobile data plan.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
Questions, complaints or claims about Meal Buddy go to us: Connor AI LLC, connorwsk@connoraillc.com.
19. General
These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Meal Buddy. If any part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a part right away, we haven’t given up the right to do it later. You can’t transfer these Terms to someone else, but we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We aren’t responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
